X announced a wind-down of its Revenue Sharing program and its replacement with a new Original Content Rewards program, with phased changes and eligibility criteria.

X will wind down its Revenue Sharing program and replace it with Original Content Rewards.

The company said it will stop accepting new participants, let existing participants earn through September 7, and open applications for the new program from September 8.

"The existing program had reached a point where its incentives were misaligned," Allegra Jacchia wrote.

Eligible creators must subscribe to Premium, have at least 500 verified followers and register 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the past 90 days to qualify.

X defined qualifying work as original reporting and analysis, photos, videos, memes and graphics made by the poster, or commentary that adds meaningful original value, and said reposts, reuploads or lightly transformed material will not qualify.

The change follows months of tweaks aimed at curbing reposts, aggregation and engagement farming that prompted creator complaints and occasional reversals.

X said it will continue refining the program and improving its models over time.
